Lake Bunyonyi

Overview

A deep, island-scattered lake in the terraced hills of southwestern Uganda, and the natural place to rest after gorilla trekking. There is no bilharzia and no crocodiles, so swimming and canoeing are safe. Twenty-nine islands sit in the water, each with its own history. The terraced hillsides and morning mist make it one of the most photographed landscapes in the country.
