Zanzibar

An Indian Ocean archipelago of turquoise shallows, dhows and spice farms, thirty minutes by air from Dar es Salaam. Stone Town's carved doors and Swahili, Arab and Indian history fill a day; the north and east coasts hold the beaches. Diving and snorkelling at Mnemba atoll are the best in the region. It pairs naturally with a northern circuit safari for a bush and beach trip.
