Big cat running across the open plains of the Masai Mara, Kenya
Kenya

Masai Mara

Overview

Kenya's flagship reserve and the northern end of the Great Migration. Big cat densities here are the highest in Africa, and the open plains make them easy to find. Between July and October wildebeest cross the Mara river in their thousands; the rest of the year the resident lion prides, cheetah and leopard keep the game viewing exceptional. Conservancies bordering the reserve allow night drives and walking safaris that the national reserve does not.
